This course is designed to inspire you, to introduce you to new writing tools, to build your confidence - and leave you with a hunger to write more.
During the week we will focus on idea and event, finding your themes, your writing voice, telling the truth, how to keep going, meaning and shaping, perspectives, pace, passion, games with titles, the arcs of story, conflict and complexity, dialogue, changing forms, your writing choices, character and contradiction, left and right brain thinking, sensual writing, breaking syntax, ways of seeing...

Tutor
Fiona Dunscombe lives in France where she works as a creative writing tutor. She is the author of 'The Triple Point of Water' (Polygon) and winner of The Dundee International Book Prize 2007. She has also published articles and poetry, and an essay on the novel appears in 'Generic Instability and Identity in the Contemporary Novel' (Cambridge Scholars).
Brought up in the East Midlands she later moved to London where she lived for fifteen years, performing in improvised theatre at the Lyric Theatre , Hammersmith and doing a variety of disreputable jobs including despatch riding, striptease, PR and recruitment. Studying for a first degree at the age of 27, she wrote radio drama for LBC and whilst working as a recruitment manager she studied for an MA in Contemporary Literatures in English (London Univ).
Her experiences as a mature student have led her to become a passionate teacher with a belief that learning that is pleasurable can change your life. She is currently writing a new novel with themes of beauty and belonging, and planning a non-fiction book about the process of fiction writing; inspired in part by the individual writing journeys she has had the privilege to observe.
Price includes all course tuition, accommodation and meals. Single rooms will be provided to all participants depending on availability unless otherwise requested.
